The First Step

To be completely honest with you all, I had multiple first steps. I was that person who would do it for 2 weeks then take a break for one day that turns into 4 weeks. Then we start all over again.
Well, I'm DONE with all of that. I have been running for a few weeks now [on a schedule and not missing days], and I am starting half marathon training! I'm super excited because I don't have to be a "pro" to run. I just have to train my body to be able to do it. Dedication.

"So, what's first", you ask? FOOD. Yep. Good ole, yummy in the tummy, wholesome goodness. In order to lose weight, you need to create a calorie deficit. Best, and quickest way is to adjust your eating habits adopt clean eating. But, that's tough. Let's get real. I need my chocolate and alcohol.

A few things to remember [without really going into it]:

  • If it has a label, think twice. The best foods are whole foods, which include: fruits, veggies, dairy and meat
  • Your food is your fuel. Plan accordingly.
  • Go organic if you eat the skin. When shopping, you don't need to splurge to get everything organic. Just pick out the ones where pesticides could easily absorb into the flesh.
  • Water.
  • Replenish your body after rough workouts. Always replace your fluids and get the nutrition to your muscles within 30[-120] minutes. After that you have 50% chance of nutrient absorption.
  • Imagine what you'd look like in 20 years doing exactly what you're doing. Are you happy? Are you tired? Are you lazy? Are you fit? Progress takes time, so never give up and NEVER skip that workout because you "don't feel like it".
A really great app that is helping me is Noom. Check it out on your Android device. Next is Nike+ Running app.

So, it might be overwhelming at first, but if you can just stick with it, these will replace those bad habits like cake and couch potatoes.
